This is not a drill, soldier! Remember back when Call of Duty: Warzone released in March 2020? It had this map called Verdansk that was pretty good. Some hated it, while others love it, but there’s no doubt it helped solidify Warzone as one of the biggest battle royale games out there.
I’m feeling old now, cause I can still remember the map as if it was yesterday. To celebrate five years of Warzone, it’s time for Verdansk to finally make its return. Activision has officially confirmed this news in a brand-new teaser trailer, entitled “Unforgettable Verdansk Teaser” which has already gotten over 12 million views.
Verdansk is exceptionally popular among Call of Duty: Warzone veterans. Every year, a new Warzone map replaces the old one, so we haven’t played on Verdansk for quite some time, unless you count a resurgence on Warzone Mobile, where the map featured in 2024…I don’t.
In any case, Verdansk will release at the start of Warzone Season 3 on 3 April 2025, as confirmed by the developers. At the time of writing, there’s no indication of how many or which types of changes the fan-favorite map will receive.

Yes, the trailer did show a singular tear running down a soldier’s face when spotting Verdansk for the first time. That was not a hallucination.
Is Activision making too big of a deal about the return of Verdansk? Will the developers tinker with the iconic map to the point where it’s worse? Those are all perfectly valid questions, that we’ll know the answer to after 3 April 2025.
