DOOM Will It Run Edition Runs On The Game Box & Cacodemon

Sometimes, technology goes too far. Maybe this is the beginning of the end, where the 1993 FPS, DOOM, can run on a limited-edition box it comes in, and on a handheld Cacodemon.

Yes, that is not a typo. There’s an edition of DOOM, sold by Limited Run Games, that is releasing on 18 April 2025. It is called “DOOM + DOOM II Will it Run Edition” and is definitely a collector’s item, with only 666 copies. A copy (on PC, PlayStation, Xbox, or Nintendo Switch) will set you back $666.66 and includes a host of goodies.

The highlight for me here is that DOOM actually runs on the box it comes in. There’s also a handheld Cacodemon toy that runs DOOM, a Certificate of Authenticity for the collector, a Cassette Tape, and a floating Cacodemon on a magnetic base.

Yes, there have been so many jokes in the past about DOOM running on just about anything. There’s even a website dedicated to what types of devices DOOM can run on, aptly called canitrundoom.com.

Now, I’ll try to hide my wallet and resist this collector’s item for as long as possible.
