This is not a drill…I repeat, this is not a drill. It’s finally happened, and although it’s not through an official update from Valve, the Cache remake has been unleashed into Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) thanks to a workshop submission from creator, Shawn “FMPONE” Snelling.
I’m not going to waste your time. Simply head to the official Steam Workshop page for the Cache remake, download it, and start playing! Check out the long-awaited announcement from FMPONE on X below.
If you are still here, then let me entice you to leave and start playing on Cache remake. The beloved Chernobyl-inspired map has gotten a huge visual overhaul, taking advantage of Valve’s Source 2 engine.
The map was painstakingly remade for CS2 by FMPONE himself, based on the 2019 version. As part of a quick history lesson, you might want to know that Cache is the only community-made map to ever feature in the Active Duty Map Pool (competitive esports maps) in the history of Counter-Strike.

It was active from June 2014 until March 2019, before Valve replaced it with Vertigo. Now, Cache has returned, and I can’t help but wonder how long it will take for Valve to realize that it should also become part of the Active Duty Map Pool, after some adjustments…of course.
