Even typing the title, I just wanted to scream, “shut up and take my money.” Yes, Cthulhu Keeper, from Finnish developers Kuuasema, is already on my wishlist, and I’m bursting at the seems to play it.
The developers announced this real-time tactics and dungeon-building video game on 19 February 2025. It is set in the “eerie 1920s” and is inspired by H.P. Lovecraft’s universe. Clearly, some Dungeon Keeper inspiration is also seeping through, and it looks beautiful, exciting, and utterly addictive.
Cthulhu Keeper allows you to build up your own cult, summon eldritch monstrosities, explore the outside world and complete missions, and defend against those pesky investigators who want to uncover your secrets.
The Chief Gaming Officer of Kuuasema, Kimmo Kari, explained via a Press Release that:
We’ve poured our hearts and dark souls into creating a unique and challenging experience that blends classic dungeon-keeping with the unsettling atmosphere of Lovecraft’s stories.
At the time of writing, there is no exact release date for Cthulhu Keeper. The focus is on getting the PC version out first. A console version of Cthulhu Keeper is under consideration, so don’t lose hope.
