DOOM The Dark Ages PC Specs Are Expectedly Frightening

At the Xbox Developer Direct show, Microsoft, Bethesda, and id Software officially unveiled the release date of DOOM The Dark Ages, and we got super hyped. While we can’t wait to jump into the boots of the DOOM Slayer and cut demons to bits, PC gamers might be in for one hell of an awakening.

DOOM The Dark Ages has a high barrier of entry for PC gamers, with system requirements that are a bit frightening. You might have seen some rumors floating around, but we can confirm that DOOM The Dark Ages requires a GPU capable of Ray Tracing and 8GB dedicated VRAM, at a minimum.

DOOM The Dark Ages runs on idTech8 engine (not idTech7 like many outlets are reporting!). In a Slayer’s Club post, id Software explained:

id Software’s most ambitious title yet, DOOM: The Dark Ages pushes new standards in visual fidelity and performance with the power of idTech8 . Taking full advantage of modern hardware on all platforms, idTech8 ushers in a new era of gameplay performance and visual fidelity featuring all-new dynamic interactive ray-traced lighting and shadows, higher-fidelity image quality, increased gore and destruction and so much more.

With that confusion cleared up, let’s take a look at the minimum, recommended, and 4K Ultra system requirements for DOOM The Dark Ages on PC. On all specs, Windows 10 / 11 (64-bit) is required.
