Prologue Go Wayback Trailer Scratches Our Survival Genre Itch

It’s been a while since I heard anything concrete about Prologue: Go Wayback!, an upcoming survival game from PUBG creator Brendan Greene. It’s a player vs. nature affair, with no zombies or other monsters to fight.

Prologue: Go Wayback! is all about surviving in a massive, wild landscape, fighting against the elements, and staying alive by any means necessary. Previous from lucky journalists who’ve been able to play the game a bit, indicates a brutal level of difficulty and most of them note that Prologue: Go Wayback won’t be for everyone.

The game is from PLAYERUNKNOWN Productions, and part of the bigger Project Artemis. It’s a standalone experience that will release in “Summer 2025” via Steam Early Access. At the time of writing, there’s no official price or exact release date.

The entire trailer just makes me want to play the game, and attempt to survive, first for hours, then possibly for days. Players will have to use the environment and tools to their advantage, search for food as they travel through the world, take shelter from the extreme weather conditions, repair items, and buildings, and much more. The ultimate goal is to reach the weather station and call for help.

Check out an official description for Prologue: Go Wayback! below.

Prologue: Go Wayback! is a survival adventure set in the heart of the unknown, where every decision you make determines your fate. You are dropped into a vast, wild landscape, armed with little more than an old, weathered map and the tools necessary to stay alive. Your mission is simple—reach the weather station—but how you get there, and whether you survive the journey, is entirely up to you.

The world is dynamic and unpredictable: the weather can change at a moment’s notice, forcing you to adapt to harsh storms, freezing temperatures, and the relentless forces of nature. You’ll need to gather resources, find shelter, forage for food, and keep an eye on the horizon.

Watch the Prologue: Go Wayback! official trailer below, featuring several weather effects, a massive landscape, and even a cosy cabin.

The trailer has gotten me super excited for this upcoming survival game. After all, I like a challenge, and Prologue: Go Wayback seems to provide one at every turn.
