Dead Rails just got a little weirder (and a lot more chaotic) with the addition of potions. Whether you’re dousing yourself in milk for insane stat boosts or reanimating corpses with some unholy sludge, these brews can seriously change how you play.
But which ones are actually worth the mess? In this tier list, I’m ranking every potion in Dead Rails to help you figure out which concoctions to trust—and which ones to leave on the shelf!
Dead Rails Tier List: Every Potion Ranked | Roblox
As of May 30, 2025, there are only four potions in Dead Rails (excluding Milk), though more are likely coming in future updates. Importantly, these rankings are based on team play, so if you’re running solo, your mileage may vary.
If you need help with the recipes, refer to my potion guide to learn how to brew them. Here’s my potion tier list in Dead Rails.
Tier | Potion | Effect |
---|---|---|
S-Tier (meta) | Primordial Soup | Corpses soaked in Primordial Soup will become reanimated and fight for the player faction. |
A-Tier (excellent) | Angel Tears | Angel Tears will heal all injuries, pretty much instantly. |
B-Tier (goodish) | Milk | Technically not a potion. It boosts movement speed, health regeneration, and melee damage (exclusive to Milkman Class) |
C-Tier (mid) | Holy Water (Crafted) | Will quickly kill all enemies with green flames (allied players are immune). |
D-Tier (trash) | Devil’s Tears | Upon being ignited, it will quickly consume the entire area in flames. |

What Is The Best Potion In Dead Rails? | Roblox
The best potion in Dead Rails is Primordial Soup. What makes it so overpowered is that it revives corpses to fight for you—that includes any NPC. It works similarly to the Jade Tablet, making it an easy and effective tool for crowd control. Plus, it doesn’t require any special class!
All you need to do is dump it on a pile of bodies and watch your zombie army rise. Compared to other potions, which are either class-locked, inconsistent, or flat-out dangerous to use (looking at you, Devil Tears), Primordial Soup is easily the best potion in Dead Rails.

Runner Ups
A close second is Angel Tears. While it doesn’t raise an undead squad to fight for you, it gives you perpetual healing, which can be a literal lifesaver—especially in dangerous areas. The healing effect kicks in as long as you’re covered in it, and even while taking damage, your health steadily regenerates.
Holy Water is the next best potion in Dead Rails. I actually find it underwhelming because it only damages enemies when you pour it directly on them or when they walk through puddles. This is good on paper, but in practice, you’ll burn through an entire bottle trying to kill just a few zombies.
