Everyone and their pet Cacodemon (who has a capable PC or a current-gen console) will probably want to jump into the medieval hellscape of DOOM The Dark Ages as soon as possible. My plan for the weekend following the game’s release on 15 May 2025 (13 May for Early Access) is simply to rip and tear through as many demons as possible. But the question is: How long does it take to finish DOOM The Dark Ages?
That’s what we are here to discuss, so let’s leap straight in. We’ll explain the expected time that prospective players must put aside to beat DOOM The Dark Ages, completing all of its chapters.
DOOM The Dark Ages | How Long To Complete?
DOOM The Dark Ages is quite a huge game, with 22 Chapters and hundreds of thousands of demons to destroy. That’s why the game is expected to take many gamers a long while to complete. It’s not just an eight-hour campaign.
According to the latest reports, and taking many players’ (and reviewers’) comments into consideration, I have an average to share. Please note that the time to finish DOOM The Dark Ages varies greatly depending on player skill. Check out the average expected times below.

There are, of course, six difficulty levels in DOOM The Dark Ages, namely:
- Aspiring Slayer
- Hurt Me Plenty
- Ultra-Violence
- Nightmare difficulty
- Ultra-Nightmare
- Pandemonium
You can start the game on any difficulty, with the default being “Hurt Me Plenty.” Playing on higher difficulty levels could very well increase the time needed to finish DOOM The Dark Ages, depending on player skill level.
At the time of writing, it is unclear how much replayability the game will offer. After all, DOOM The Dark Ages does not have multiplayer. There are, however, Easter Eggs to find and challenges to complete, as well as multiple difficulty levels to challenge yourself, becoming the best DOOM Slayer you could possibly be. For example, completing a Pandemonium or Ultra-Nightmare campaign run will give you the Pandemonium and Ultra-Nightmare skins, respectively.
